Voting for FIFPro World XI underway
The voting for the FIFPro World XI Player Awards is in full swing. Professional footballers from all over the world are currently choosing the eleven best players from last season. Ecuador was one of the first countries to submit its votes.
It was last year’s FIFPro World Player of the Year himself who, at the beginning of June, gave the starting signal to get voting underway for the FIFPro Player Awards 2006-2007. Ronaldinho slipped the first ballot paper into the voting box in Barcelona. These weeks, many thousands of professional footballers will follow his example.
National team players Marlon Ayovi (Barcelona) and Edwin Tenorio (LDU Quito),
committing their eleven names to the ballot box.
Ecuador’s votes were the first to be received at FIFPro’s head office. A lot of famous international names of course, but there were also many votes for Ecuador’s national heroes such as Ivan Kaviedes, Carlos Tenorio and Agustin Delgado.
The FIFPro World XI and the FIFPro World Player of the Year will be presented on 24th September.
